It's true! Alabama will, once again, be performing in Evansville, Indiana on October 20!
Am I excited....just a lil bit! Alabama was, and is, my all time favorite band. Their songs were front and center of my early 80’s universe. My daily mantra seemed to scream, I'm in a Hurry. Whether driving to or from my 40 Hour Weekor making a beeline to the club, you would always hear Alabama blasting from my little red Chevette as I would Roll On.
Back then, my hang out was a little known place called “Kings”, a quaint little pub that served as a makeshift refuge where friends would support and cry with you in the wake of a failed romance, encourage new relationships and celebrate birthdays and occasions. A place where the laughter and tears were mixed right along with the spirits.
Yes, I donned satin shirts with fringe on the sleeves, proudly wore a suede cowboy hat and owned several pairs of sh** kickers. Between band sets, Alabama songs were the playlist of choice. How appropriate that Jukebox on my Mindwas a favorite. Life was simple and easy back then. Alabama songs touched the heart and revealed emotion. A dance to Feels so Rightcould catapult you to another dimension....(as long as you were dancing with the right person).
From two-stepping to line dancing, country music was all the rage.
During those years I spent a lot of time daydreaming about where life would take me.
From Dixieland Delightand My Home's in Alabama to Mountain Music, If You're Gonna Play in Texas and Tennessee River. Through these songs, my southern soul emerged and I knew without a doubt that I was Born Country.
Back in the day, I viewed Why Lady Why, from a female perspective, although looking back, I have to admit that I may not have set the dating bar very high. As a matter of fact, one could easily surmise that I was definitely A Lady Down on Love; however, when I met the man of my dreams, I remember thinking The Closer You Getand knew from that moment on that I was guilty of Love in the First Degree.
Looking back, There's No Waythat I could’ve foreseen the Angels Among Uswhen I met Greg. Before that, I had often wondered whether the memory of an Old Flamewould forever haunt me. The answer is a big resounding NO! Greg is Close Enough to Perfectand here I am, 30 years later, finding myself Fallen Againand realizing that a love like this happens Once Upon a Lifetime. I know without hesitation that Forever's As Far As I'll Go.
Alabama with the Charlie Daniels Band will be at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana on October 20, 2016 and I am making every effort to try and be in attendance!
